Mr. Thornton has a degree in Civil Engineering from NC State University and he has been a Mechanical Engineer for approximately 34 years. He has received over 60 U.S. and International patents on medical devices and consumer products. His proficiencies include Pro/Engineer, Unigraphics, AutoCad, Ansys, Microsoft Project, and PatentPro. Mr. Thornton’s former employers include Sony Ericsson as Senior Technical Lead Engineer from July, 2004 to June, 2010, 3G Cellular from January, 2001 to May, 2004, Ericsson from May 1995 to December, 2000, and the Edward Weck Corporation for 13 years. Mr. Thornton’s specialities include machine design, product development, mechanical design support for Solar Concentrators, MEMS chip development, as well as the design of components such as injection molded parts, stampings, castings, and packaging. He has also designed progressive die stampings, provided manufacturing support for high volume products, set up assembly lines and design tooling for manufacturing, supervised prototype builds, and supported mechanical industrialization of products in Malaysia, China and Mexico.
